Procession launches Minor Works Procurement approach for the public sector - Local Authorities and Housing Associations

Chesham, United Kingdom, June 22nd, 2004. Business Process Management (BPM) specialist, Procession plc, has launched a Minor Works Control solution for the building sector using its unique Process Application Platform.

The idea is to automate the process of logging minor works through to signoff across several organisations. David Chassels, Chief Executive said, "This addresses many of the problems associated with administering minor works contracts for local authorities and housing associations alike.

"The problem is that many of these organisations have a problem tracking what is going on. When there are multiple active contracts in existence at any one time involving many tenants, contractors and surveyors rapid dissemination of information across organisations is essential.

"We achieve this by automating and simplifying the process, reducing execution periods by eliminating much of the correspondence and so increasing efficiency.

"By tracking work from start to finish, once the job is logged, and the work specified it can be priced against a schedule of works. A suitable craftsman or surveyor can be identified to take the next step. Now the work can be assigned to an appropriate contractor and carried out. The variations process can handle any additional works or modification to the existing contract. Finally the system should highlight outstanding jobs and invoice completed jobs.

"It's a complex environment with high administration costs and big implications if it goes wrong. Organisations that share information can speed up the process. They can see what resources are available and what jobs are outstanding. They can also delve down into the detail of each job, or they can compare performance of contractors that have been awarded similar jobs."
