PRESS RELEASE
PROCESSION'S TECHNOLOGICAL BREAKTHROUGH
IN BUSINESS SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT HAS DRAMATIC IMPLICATIONS FOR THE
SOFTWARE SUPPLY INDUSTRY
The long sought-after dream of bringing simplicity
to the build of custom applications through the elimination of custom
code - just as Word and Spreadsheets have for users - has been achieved
by UK-owned and based Procession plc.
In what is being hailed as a major technological
breakthrough, Procession plc has developed a revolutionary Process
Engine that enables the rapid build of custom business applications
without custom coding by IT professionals. Procession's Chief Executive,
David Chassels, commented: "The Procession Process Engine has an intuitive
user interface in the same way as Word has, for example.
"These days, you don't have to be an IT professional
in order to use Word or build spreadsheets - and now you don't have
to be an IT professional to use Procession's Process Engine either.
"This puts the control of business processes,
now recognised as Business Process Management (BPM) - and, therefore,
of the entire business - back into the control of businesspeople.
Moreover, in addition to simplifying the use of the software, it greatly
simplifies its maintenance - for the first time allowing software
to be changed 'on the fly' as the business changes.
"Procession's easy-to-use technology, which
delivers increased business efficiency, reliability and return on
investment in IT, will have consequences for the supply industry,"
he added. "No other product in the BPM marketplace can begin to approach
Procession's for ease of use.
"Procession sets a new standard in delivery
of software solutions in terms of speed, cost and flexibility. This
marks a milestone in the supply of 21st century business software."
While Procession has been deploying its innovative
technology for some five years, Chassels believes that Procession's
products were not going to be taken seriously until business leaders
and IT specialists understood the need for solutions that were as
dynamic and adaptable as the actual businesses they served.
Chassels commented: "The emerging BPM market, which all industry analysts
recognize as a significant development in software delivery, has reached
the point of early maturity. Consequently, we have decided the time
has come to let the business community know there is now a 'new way'.
"A Procession solution uses an Oracle database
to power the application but it is built and run by Procession," Chassels
revealed. "So it's highly relevant that we decided to disclose our
unique approach at Oracle AppsWorld London - being held at ExCel in
London's Docklands, from 24th to 26th June.
"With so many Oracle users today considering
their infrastructure cost and looking to Oracle-embedded products
and services to help them run their businesses better, faster and
cheaper, the new Procession Process Engine is a key part of the software
solution they can now choose," commented Chassels.
"We see our technology is complementary to
Oracle's range of transactional E-Business Suites by bring agility
to the total software solution to deliver the capability for the business
to retain that competitive edge through continuous process improvement
supporting the users in their job," he said.
"Procession have re-written the rule book
for application building," said Tim Payne, Senior Director Technology
Marketing, Oracle. "The Procession Process Engine, powered by Oracle,
offers the potential to dramatically reduce application build time
and deliver cost savings".

About
Procession
Procession develops original software and markets Business Process
Management (BPM) solutions for the emerging process automation marketplace.
Supporting the operational aspects of Six
Sigma Plus* Process Management Initiative, it enables organisations
to implement, control, monitor and improve their processes - leading
to a continual improvement in customer focused quality and falling
operational costs by allowing managers to take control of their key
business processes. The architecture uses an RDBMS (Oracle), along
with Java and J2EE application servers and maintains a runtime repository
of process data, process state and reference data.
The Procession Process Engine uses declarative
process definition. There is no code generation and no custom coding.
This unique feature means that business analysts
and operational managers who understand the vital operational processes
can implement and modify those processes. The risk of translation
issues between the business operation and the IT support operation
is minimised, freeing the IT support operation to deliver on objectives.
This results in processes that are instantly deployable to the running
environment.
Procession's products are task-driven, which
is how people - and machines - work, unlike applications such as CRM
and ERP, which are data and transactional based.
Based around its unique Process Engine, Procession's
range of products includes:
- The Financial Planning Suite - covering
sales management and forecasting for leads, opportunities, revenue
and invoicing
- Grant management
- Custom applications - including banking,
telecoms, healthcare and government, covering administration, supply
chain, product configurators, risk management and so on
Procession also provides low cost conduits
to link 'front end' systems, such as the web, with 'back end' systems,
such as mainframe and ERP systems.
Procession plc, formerly known as Datacore
Ltd, was founded in 1994. It became Procession in 2000.
* Six Sigma is a management philosophy originally
developed by the Motorola organisation. It sets extremely tough objectives
for the collection of data and the analysis of results. Its targets
are to reduce defects in products and services as far as possible.
